Brainspotting Therapy
Feeling Stuck in Anxiety or Grief?
Brainspotting Therapy Might Be What You Need
When Anxiety, Trauma, and Grief Keep You Stuck
If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, weighed down by grief, or haunted by past trauma, you’re not alone. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before, read all the self-help books, or even turned to mindfulness apps—yet nothing seems to bring the deep relief you’re looking for. It can feel frustrating, like you’re trapped in the same painful cycle, unable to move forward no matter how hard you try.
But what if healing wasn’t just about talking through your pain? What if there was a way to tap into the deeper parts of your brain where trauma, anxiety, and grief actually live? That’s exactly what Brainspotting therapy helps you do.
What Is Brainspotting Therapy?
Brainspotting is a cutting-edge, neuroscience-backed therapy designed to help you process and release deep emotional pain. Developed by Dr. David Grand, Brainspotting works with the idea that where you look affects how you feel.
Through guided eye positioning, Brainspotting therapy allows you to access the parts of your brain where trauma, stress, and unresolved emotions are stored—areas that traditional talk therapy often can’t reach. Instead of simply engaging your logical mind, Brainspotting taps into the subcortical brain—the part responsible for emotions, memories, and body regulation—allowing for deep, lasting healing.
How can Brainspotting help with anxiety, PTSD, and grief?
Brainspotting therapy has been found to be highly effective for a range of emotional challenges, including:

Christian Counseling and Brainspotting Therapy
As Christians we are called to renew our mind daily and not to worry. Maybe you have found yourself memorizing scripture to stop the worrying and negative thoughts. And yet you still think the worst. This often leads to feeling like you are not a “good enough” Christian. Or maybe you have tried cognitive therapy and you know the truth but cannot seem to stop the lies and integrate the truth. In Romans 7 and 8, Paul talks about the struggle of “knowing what to do and not doing it”. He tells us the solution is to focus on Jesus. And you do for a bit…but then you find yourself back to the negative. What if your struggle isn’t for lack of trying but that you need some deeper healing?
More than likely, you’re stuck because your brain is getting hijacked by old memories or negative thoughts. You end up triggered, or in a fight, flight, freeze or fawn cycle. Triggering memories and experiences release stress hormones that actually hijack the logical part of our brain. As a result we cannot access the truth and we cannot focus on anything but our stress, we just stay stuck.
Unfortunately, traditional talk therapy is not always helpful because it only accesses the neocortex or logical part of the brain. But again, once when the “ logical part” of your brain is stuck, it’s not going to help. In contrast, Brainspotting allows you to access the whole brain and body (mind, body and spirit and soul) to create new neural pathways so there can be healing. You are fully aware of what is happening (not like hypnosis) , and in control and able to focus. As you heal, you can use access your whole brain and renew your mind daily!
It is really a neuroscience “hack”. As we understand how God designed our brain, we can utilize it better. You can more easily find and act on new solutions and escape the negative thoughts more quickly, keeping your focus on God’s truth and finally being able to feel freedom and joy.
We integrate prayer or Scripture into your therapy journey in a way that feels right for you. So many have experienced church hurt, so we do not force anything and there is no shame allowed here!
Brainspotting is a great way to work through those hurtful experiences. We always tailor therapy at a pace that feels comfortable and focuses on your goals.
What Clients Say About Brainspotting Therapy
Many clients describe Brainspotting as a deeply transformative experience. Here’s what some have said:
🗣️ "I came to my session super stressed and my mind would not stop racing, but after one session, I felt a calm and peace I didn’t think I could experience. It’s like my body finally let go and I could focus on one thought at a time."
🗣️ I started my session feeling angry, sad and completely overwhelmed as I was in the midst of a nasty divorce. I had many decisions that I had to make, and I couldn’t focus. After one brainspotting session, I was able to remember my strengths and went from insecure and anxious to confident and focused. The overwhelmed feelings disappeared, and I felt like I knew that I could make decisions."
🗣️ "I came to my first session overwhelmed; it felt like my brain was a computer that had too many tabs open. I couldn’t process or focus on what I wanted to focus on, but during my brainspotting session it was as though I could feel the “tabs closing”. I was able think and focus more clearly.

What Happens in a Brainspotting Therapy Session?
If you’re new to Brainspotting, you might be wondering what to expect. Here’s a simple breakdown:
Step 1: Set the Intention
We’ll talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and what you hope to work on. This could be anything from anxiety and trauma to stress or performance issues.
Step 2: Find Your Brainspot
Using a pointer or your natural eye movements, we’ll identify a brainspot—a point in your visual field that activates an emotional or physical response. Our eyes are connected deep into your brain. Or as the Shakespeare says “your eyes are the window to your soul”. Have you ever noticed you naturally look off into space when you are trying to think or recall something? That is a brainspot. Your brain and body already know where the pain and memories are stored; we’re just helping to unlock it.
Step 3: Process & Heal
You’ll focus on this brainspot while allowing your mind and body to naturally process emotions. You might experience an emotional release, physical sensations, or a new sense of clarity and relief.
Step 4: Integrate the Healing
We’ll discuss what came up for you, how you feel, and ways to carry this healing into your daily life. Brainspotting often leads to deeper insights and long-term emotional shifts.
Take the First Step Toward Healing
If you’ve been feeling stuck—whether in anxiety, grief, or trauma—Brainspotting therapy could be the breakthrough you’ve been searching for. You don’t have to stay trapped in pain. Healing is possible, and relief is closer than you think.
